Expansion (Oct 2026)

Missing data

  • No celebrity guests are named on the 2002 home, location, or Daily News pages (unlike DecipherCon 2000).
  • No published winners for the Players Committee Star Wars side events on the 23 October schedule.
  • No full Day 2 Swiss standings for Star Wars CCG Worlds.
  • TheForce.net 20 September 2002 qualifier list was not dested as person stubs (68 names).
  • DeckTech tournament reports for this weekend were not found on stephenskilton.com.
  • Gallery JPEGs MS09inside, ms66, and ms67 404 on Wayback (ms66/ms67 captions: Star Trek final on the hall screen; John Corbett and Franklin Kenter with Evan Lorentz judging).
  • No contemporaneous interior photograph of the Conference Center besides the main hall.

Possibly faulty data

  • Convention dates: Decipher home and PC schedule are 31 October–3 November 2002. Older wiki lead used 1–3 November. LOTR-TCG Wiki dates LOTR Worlds 31 October–2 November (the LOTR final was Saturday night).
  • Address: Decipher location page gives 900 Greenbrier Circle, Chesapeake, Virginia 23320. The modern Chesapeake Conference Center site uses 700 Conference Center Drive.
  • Young Jedi champion: awards ceremony "Jason Kilby"; Players Committee results table "Jason Killby". Article uses Killby from the results table.
  • LOTR runner-up: Daily News prose Alex Tennet (UK); results list "Alex Tennant". Article uses Tennet (SWCCG player page).
  • LOTR champion given name: Daily News Mathieu; some TORN copy Matthieu. Article uses Mathieu from Daily News.
  • Art Wright identification is the Decipher caption on ms52 ("Art Wright is Fierce all over"). File already dested.

Marginal cuts

  • ms72 (same LOTR final on the hall projector as ms71).
  • ms58 children's LOTR table; ms64 design team watching play; jewelry and convention-store product shots; leftover DecipherCon 2000 IDs in the 2002 photo tree.
  • Halloween costume winners without SWCCG pages (Heidi Farinholt, Niki Rowland, Adelle Edwards, Matt Kirk).
  • Hall of Fame names without SWCCG pages (product champions and retailers).
  • Austin Powers CCG beyond the champion's name.

Build notes

  • Hall JPEG: Wayback 20050209115156 of MS11mainhall.jpg. Venue JPEG: 20020725043320 confcenter.jpg. Banner: 20020921203959 deciphercon2002banner.jpg.
  • Commons venue photograph is 2004 (RailbirdJAM, public domain), not a 2002 interior.
  • Worlds Day 1 format follows the 23 October PC schedule (two 2:00 PM heats, six Swiss, top 20%), not the August worldsformats planning copy (Friday morning, four rounds / eight games).

SWCCG-first trim (Oct 2026)

Marginal cuts

  • LOTR-only gallery files removed from this page (kept on File: pages and the LOTR / person hubs): Mathieu Brochu vs Alex Tennet final; Brochu PT Cruiser; Bridget Gavin as Frodo; Marcin Solonczak LOTR Worlds; Clint Hays LOTR Worlds; Star Trek Worlds Day 3; Franklin Kenter. Chuck Kallenbach / Tim Ellington seminar kept on those person pages (LOTR design seminar).
  • Other-games prose cut to one short section with hub links (dropped LOTR Top 16, PT Cruiser prize list, TORN trip reports, Halloween costume winners).

Possibly faulty data

  • File:DecipherCon 2002 Star Wars awards.jpg (ms83) is unlabeled on the SWCCG/YJ/JK results page after the Star Wars Top 8. Trophy holder (navy Star Wars shirt, beard, no glasses) does not match Angelo Consoli's 2007 and 2013 portraits (glasses, no beard). Glasses player far from the trophy is a weaker candidate. Faces left unidentified.
  • File:Warren Holland DecipherCon 2002 awards.jpg (PANA0050): podium is Warren Holland (matches the Daily News close-up ms86). Standing man in brown shirt is not dested as Mark Tuttle; no Tuttle portrait to compare. Tuttle introduced Holland, then Holland presented.
