Strategy

By Johan de Jong aka Lord Xcapobl[1]

Now here's an alien that sees too little use in the field. And I feel it is my solemn duty to tell you why he should be there (I have had little negative remarks about this way of submitting Card Extras, so I won't change that).

First, I know this is old news, but the Destiny Number is 3, yes that magical number again. What I did not mention before, however, is that with the right destiny adders, you might draw two or more cards with destiny 3, in which case the combined total of them DOES scare off an Obi-Wan every day. I have discussed plenty cards with destiny 3 or higher.

Let me tell you, again, that there is more to this little fellow, which is why I write this Card Extra. As far as aliens go, this is one basic little rat, with power 1 and ability 1. This is not something to fear. Actually, a lot of people do not like to use the rat-face, as his deploy is a heavy 3 !!! For a P1, A1 character this is rather costly. However, people do not look further. Usually a lot of people look at deploy to forfeit ratio, which in this case is one-on-one.

The true strength of the rat lies in his game text. You can lose 1 Force to search through your opponent's Lost Pile or Crash Site Memorial. Hmmmm. Wasn't the Crash Site Memorial a place where the Light Side actually has a form of saving certain things ? You may search there. Isn't there (almost) always a form of Lost Pile to search through, especially mid-game to late-game ? Search there too.

Next, you may search for a vehicle, droid, weapon or device card. These are the cards that go to the Crash Site Memorial and the Lost Pile, once they are ripped to shreds (in the game, not for real). Ever want to use that R2-D2 for your own Dark Side purposes?

Find a use for the lost Light Side Cloud Car, when you forgot to put the Dark Side variant into your deck? Darth Vader is without weapon and you just Force drained a Jedi Lightsaber from the Light Side? The possibilities are only limited to the amount of vehicles, droids, weapons and devices your opponent plays with. Finally, you may take this card to use as your own. Thieves can do that for you, Sabacc can win cards for you. What's the big deal then? The big deal is, that Reegesk puts these goodies into your hand straight away. No fuss with your Used Pile or anything, just get the thing in your Control Phase and Deploy it in your consecutive Deploy Phase. You would almost think this rat-scavenger has Star Trek Scotty's Miracle Worker skill, the way he puts things back together again.

In short, underrated and underused, this rat can make you a sneaky player.

Strong Points:

  • Destiny 3. So shoot me, I love a good destiny.
  • Uncommon. Making him relatively cheap and easy to obtain.
  • Game Text I. This 'stealing' can win games for you.
  • Game Text II. Did I mention you take those stolen cards into your hand ?
  • Game Text III. You use this during the control Phase, so you can drain and then choose the card you want.

Weak Points:

  • Steep Deploy. Though somewhat offset by the forfeit.
  • Low statistics. He is just not a great warrior (no pun intended).
  • "Lose one Force to..." You have to consider this. Basically, you should be prepared to admit that your opponent's cards are more useful than your own, and then lose those Dark Side cards on a one-for-one basis to Light Side cards. But consider this : you lose one card and gain one, your opponent loses a card that he cannot retrieve just like that.

Combos:

  • Reegesk + lost R2-D2 + Boba on Slave 1 = Ouch ! a P6, M6, H6 starfighter to which Boba has yet to add his bonuses.

And the weirdest combo I have ever had :

  • TIE Scout + Imperial Pilot + R2 Q2 + lost Rebel Flight Suit + Lost Astromech Translator = Trouble. I know, you will all assault me on being crazy for even suggesting a 5-card combo, but this is something I had on the table several times. Besides, who is going to argue with a Power 4, Maneuver 4, Hyperspeed 6 TIE Scout that is immune to attrition <6 (!) and draws one battle destiny when not able to otherwise? I Tallon Rolled the Falcon out of space with a TIE Scout. Reegesk made this possible.
