This little Dark Side Dejarik interrupt can ruin your opponent's day. In addition to being of use on a Hologame Board as a Dejarik creature with a destiny, power, ability, forfeit of 2, this card has two card stripping functions (one used and one lost) that can really disrupt a Light Side strategy.

The used function is as follows: If opponent has 13 or more cards in hand place all but 8 (random selection) in Used pile. If your opponent hasn't got Traffic Control out they might have to draw several turns trying to get a certain card they need to nail you with. If he is digging and digging for that Asteroid Sanctuary or Echo Base Operations with a big fat hand and he suddenly smiles and stops drawing cards, that would be a good time to play a used Monnok on them!

Watch their triumph become tragedy as the Dark Side dismantles the lovely fleet the rebels had assembled to attack the Death Star. This can have a beneficial effect for the Light Side player as well, since you are re-circulating Force for them, but in most cases this is offset by the damage it does to them strategically.

Making them wait to assemble again while you perform normal operations to secure your Force drains will give you a foothold in new systems.

The lost function is as follows: Use 4 Force to cause opponent to revel hand. All cards opponent has two or more of are lost. This can be a devastating hit if the light side is holding a lot of cards even in a carefully constructed deck. The four Force cost to play this lost function makes this a costly interrupt to attempt but it can pay off in spades if you combine it with a Scanning Crew! Pay one Force for the Scanning Crew to take a look at his hand and if you see some doubles you'll know whether you want to play the Monnok or not.

Played at the right time this card can deliver a lot of damage in lost cards but the more painful loss to your opponent will be the limiting of his options in accordance with his intended strategy. Usually the cards that are multiples in a deck are the cards that the player is wanting to have access to quickly or often. If this option is removed along with the units of force you are well on the way to victory for the Empire.

Many of my friends play where they pick up millions of cards, then Traffic Control them back to their Used pile. Well, here's one way to stop it! Play Monnok during your turn, at the beginning of your control phase. You'd want to play Monnok as a USED interrupt, leaving them with only 8 cards in their hand. Again, this works best against players who hoard their cards. Anyways, with many cards back in their Used pile, play Trinto Duaba during your battle phase. With a good destiny draw, you might be able to take out a huge chunk out of their deck. The only thing you really have to watch out for are Senses, so stock Senses and Alters to counter them. There'll be Hell to Pay and Tentacle works well against them, too.

Rulings

  • The Used function still has its result even if the opponent plays any response(s) that reduces their hand size below 13 cards.[2]
