Gift Of The Mentor is a Light Interrupt (Lost Interrupt) from Premiere Limited.

Card Text

If Luke and Obi-Wan or Yoda are in a battle together, you may add two battle destiny. OR Use 1 Force to search through your Reserve Deck and take any one lightsaber into your hand. Shuffle deck, cut and replace.

Lore

Luke relied on Obi-Wan's knowledge and advice to learn the ways of the Force. Obi-Wan continued to counsel Luke long after the old Jedi's apparent 'death.'

Strategy

Decipher card strategy (starred on the Premiere Light card list).

From Jim Van Fleet, RED 15

This interrupt from the Premiere edition has remained in my Light Side tournament deck longer than any other, and I find I never fail to use it in the game. Call it sentiment, a reminder of that favorite movie scene when Obi-Wan gives Luke his father's lightsaber, and introduces us to this elegant weapon.

Gift Of The Mentor is an elegant weapon, too. If Luke finds himself in battle together with either of his mentors, Obi-Wan or Yoda, it allows the Light Side to draw two additional battle destiny. Three battle destiny are usually enough to sweep away the Dark Side characters opposing these Jedi. The secondary use, allowing the player to use 1 Force to search the Reserve Deck for any lightsaber, is key in many decks that require a fast start and Force drain bonuses from lightsabers. It is also nice to have a card in your deck that cuts down on the use of duplicate copies of Obi-Wan's Lightsaber or Anakin's Lightsaber.

Gift Of The Mentor is a lost interrupt, but has a great destiny of 5. It can be Sensed, but this can be anticipated and prevented by Control. The most dangerous counter to Gift Of The Mentor is the Dark Side used interrupt Boring Conversation Anyway, but that is another card extra . . .
