Revision as of 22:22, 7 October 2026

1996 Decipher World Championship was the first Star Wars CCG World Championship, played in Vail, Colorado. Raphael Asselin (Canada) defeated Bjørn Sørgjerd (Norway) in the final. Joe Alread finished 3rd and Kevin Reitzel 4th.[1][2]

The constructed pool was Premiere - A New Hope. Mains decks dominated: there was still little to counter Sense / Alter, or the raw power of Obi-Wan and Vader. Trandosite notes Joe Alread using seven Dark Maneuvers in his Dark deck.[1]

Reitzel published his own 1996 pair in 2025–2026 from the decks he kept; a commenter remembered those lists in Scrye. Sørgjerd and Alread Light and Dark lists are the Scrye-era championship lists as transcribed by Vermithrax (2013). Reitzel's Light on that transcription is 55 cards; this wiki uses the 60-card pair Reitzel later published from the decks he kept.
