Ah, Elis Helrot.
It brings me back to the heady days of the "just Premier" tournaments of
old, where this, and the Light Side's counterpart Nabrun Leids, was the
single best way to get around.
All you had to do was pack a few of these babies into your deck and you
could effectively have Vader, Tarkin and a mass of other insanely
powerful characters appear virtually anywhere on the table, virtually
out of nowhere!
The only safe haven the Light Side had was in space, where Elis didn't
make his rounds.
After the A New Hope expansion, Elis ran into a serious dilemma, a card
called Quite A Mercenary. Then I Have A Bad Feeling About This,
suddenly made Elis transport the wrong personnel.
Since then, Elis has seen less and less action. Frankly the risk of
losing your characters after transport, or having the wrong characters
transported in the first place, was far too great to justify the card
slots.
But, fear not, fellow transporters! There are ways to make
Elis Helrot a much more safe and effective means of transport. How?
Well, notice how it costs Force to make either Quite A Mercenary or I
Have A
Bad Feeling work (2 and 3 Force, respectively). So, keep an eye on the
Light Side's Force Pile. You could also take a look to see what the
Light Side has got in store for you with Scanning Crew, Frustration, or
even
M'iiyoom Onith or Monnock (watch out for Shocking Information however).
So, the Light Side has Quite A Mercenary and a few Force ready to use
it, and you really want to go pound on that lone Tibanna Gas Miner he's
using to drain you to death. What do you do? Find a way to make him
spend that
Force. Jawas are nice, Dathcha is better, Jawa Pack can work also.
Broken Concentration is the most versatile, however, as not only does it
allow you to diminish his Force pile, it also works well against Jedi
Training decks (and, trust me, you'll see one, at one time or another).
Another strategy hint is to try to Elis Helrot during your Control phase
or Deploy phase. At least, that way, you'll have enough Force to
perform damage control should things go sour.
Combos:
*Elis Helrot + any number of powerful characters = The boys on Star Trek never
had it so good!
*Broken Concentration + Elis Helrot + any number of powerful characters = Deploy
Concentration, reduce the Light Side's stockpiled Force, use Elis, then deploy
more charactes... Let the slaughter begin!!!

Ah, Elis Helrot.

It brings me back to the heady days of the "just Premier" tournaments of old, where this, and the Light Side's counterpart Nabrun Leids, was the single best way to get around.

All you had to do was pack a few of these babies into your deck and you could effectively have Vader, Tarkin and a mass of other insanely powerful characters appear virtually anywhere on the table, virtually out of nowhere!

The only safe haven the Light Side had was in space, where Elis didn't make his rounds.

After the A New Hope expansion, Elis ran into a serious dilemma, a card called Quite A Mercenary. Then I Have A Bad Feeling About This, suddenly made Elis transport the wrong personnel.

Since then, Elis has seen less and less action. Frankly the risk of losing your characters after transport, or having the wrong characters transported in the first place, was far too great to justify the card slots.

But, fear not, fellow transporters! There are ways to make Elis Helrot a much more safe and effective means of transport. How? Well, notice how it costs Force to make either Quite A Mercenary or I Have A Bad Feeling work (2 and 3 Force, respectively). So, keep an eye on the Light Side's Force Pile. You could also take a look to see what the Light Side has got in store for you with Scanning Crew, Frustration, or even M'iiyoom Onith or Monnock (watch out for Shocking Information however).

So, the Light Side has Quite A Mercenary and a few Force ready to use it, and you really want to go pound on that lone Tibanna Gas Miner he's using to drain you to death. What do you do? Find a way to make him spend that Force. Jawas are nice, Dathcha is better, Jawa Pack can work also. Broken Concentration is the most versatile, however, as not only does it allow you to diminish his Force pile, it also works well against Jedi Training decks (and, trust me, you'll see one, at one time or another).

Another strategy hint is to try to Elis Helrot during your Control phase or Deploy phase. At least, that way, you'll have enough Force to perform damage control should things go sour.

Combos:

  • Elis Helrot + any number of powerful characters = The boys on Star Trek never

had it so good!

  • Broken Concentration + Elis Helrot + any number of powerful characters = Deploy

Concentration, reduce the Light Side's stockpiled Force, use Elis, then deploy more charactes... Let the slaughter begin!!!
