Reflections Gold is the cancelled Decipher product that got closest to existing. CardGuide numbers it #37 (this wiki; CardGuide #36 before Death Star II starters were split out). Decipher had Lucasfilm-approved art for about 200 cards and wanted to print a last Reflections set before the Star Wars license ended. They ran out of time to playtest. After the license expired they asked Lucasfilm for permission to post the cards as a free PDF; Lucasfilm said no.

Warren Holland's public note, 25 January 2002:

As I previously announced, it was Decipher's desire to "give" players 200 Star Wars CCG cards (in PDF format on our web site) that had already been approved by Lucasfilm for Reflections Gold. We saw this as a gift to players for all their support throughout the years. We were not able to print these cards as we had hoped, but we didn't want to see all the art and gameplay go to waste.

I am sorry to announce that Lucasfilm has just rejected the idea of us releasing these cards for free on the web. Unfortunately, we will never be able to show these cards to the general public. We don't agree with this decision by Lucasfilm, but we have to abide by it. Sorry.

Playtest copies still left Decipher: images printed on sticker stock and stuck to white-border cards. A near-complete set reached the secondary market in 2006, was partly destroyed in a household accident, and the remaining extras plus scans went to Category One Games and the Players Committee.

Three card types

Contemporary write-ups (Category One, CardGuide, and the first post of the PC forum thread) agree on three mechanics. None of them were playtested to a finished rulebook.

• Credits — a player would start with 4 or 5 credit points and could keep matching "wide vision" cards in the opening hand. Each of those cards showed a gold diamond value in the lower right. Category One describes them as existing cards with the image turned sideways.
• Combo cards — interrupt and effect pairs in the Reflections II / Coruscant style, widely described as overpowered because the two halves were already strong alone (the usual example on the forum is Beggar & Revolution).
• Blank cards — new frames with an empty text box. Decipher's idea was that the coming Players Committee could rotate printed text into those boxes every few months. That plan is the ancestor of virtual cards; after Lucasfilm refused the PDF giveaway, the PC built virtual cards without Decipher's pre-printed blanks.

How the copies survived

Category One's 2000s write-up: a former seller close to Decipher staff sold extras in late 2006, then reported that an accident destroyed most of a full set. Leftover extras went to Category One. The same source says the seller later gave the Players Committee a scan of each card. Printing quality on the sticker playtests is poor; because they were barely tested, surviving copies are often in good physical shape.

The PC forum thread (t=18282) is the messy original dump of those scans: Category One photobucket albums under Star Wars/Ref Gold/, mixed with Dagobah playtests and signed cards. That thread is the source Encyclopedia 3.2 cites for unreleased product.

A later Google document, Reflections Gold Remastered, rebuilds the frames as cleaned card images (blank text boxes, corrected layout) from those playtest stickers. Credit that reconstruction to its document author; it is not a Decipher print file.

Category One still lists singles. A 2026 r/starwarsccg thread tracks which physical copies collectors believe still exist.

Card list

Image columns are labeled by source. Forum post is the original Category One Photobucket dump in t=18282 (the album JPEG linked from each postimage, not the on-page thumb). Current Photobucket responses overlay a Groupsy watermark on those files. Category One is the current buylist photo for that title (buylist). A later Google Doc reconstruction (Reflections Gold Remastered) is cited in Sources; it is not a separate table column because every reconstructed title already has a Forum post and/or Category One photo.
